Yoga Thrive: Therapeutic Yoga for Cancer
Yoga Thrive (previously called Yoga for Cancer Survivors) is a program offered by the Culos-Reed Health and Wellness Lab in the Faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Calgary. Headed by Dr. Nicole Culos-Reed, Associate Professor at the U of C, the program is aimed at sufferers of all types of cancer on and off treatment and their supporters.
Kim is a Certified Yoga Instructor (Level I) under the Yoga Thrive research program since January 2008. As an instructor trained under Susi Hately-Aldous, Therapeutic Yoga Instructor and Owner of Functional Synergy, Kim has been fortunate enough to be able to bring this unique yoga program to individuals coming back from or in the midst of cancer. Past students have said the main benefit of the program has been the social network it has provided them as a way of breaking free of their feelings of isolation.
The program is now offered on DVD for those who are unable to attend an in-class session. To order, go to this link.
